Teresa Hernandez

Teresa Hernandez is a lifetime resident of California. Teresa and her husband of 32 years, Jose, have four children ages 23, 17, and 9 year old twins. Teresa worked as a registered nurse at Whittier Hospital Medical Center.

Teresa and Jose opened Cielito Lindo Restaurant in South El Monte in 1986. It has become a local landmark and popular family restaurant. A few years later they formed Hernandez Productions to launch Mariachi Sol de Mexico and Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles to produce Mariachi Festivals and shows across the United States. In 1991 Teresa and her husband started the Mariachi Heritage Society to provide in-school and after school music classes for local children who could not otherwise afford instruments or lessons. Over 7,000 children have attended this program from schools in Azusa, South El Monte, Norwalk and Pico Rivera.

Teresa has been involved in many local charities and serves as Executive Director of the Mariachi Heritage Society. Teresa is a member of the Governing Board of Greater El Monte Hospital. She oversees her restaurant of 70 employees and is Vice President of Hernandez Productions and continues to co-produce mariachi shows around the Country.

Eddie Marquez

Eddie is past Chairman and member of several County and City Commissions, as well as having served as Chairman and member of the Board of Directors for a number of business organizations and chambers.  He has also served on numerous non-profit boards and continues to be actively involved in chambers and other community based organizations.

Eddie enjoys reading, running, boxing, martial arts, hiking, and spending indoor/outdoor time with his wife, kids, and large extended family.

Eddie was born and raised in California.  Eddie graduated with a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in American Literature.  He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the Monterey College of Law.  He and his wife reside in Southern California with their four children.

Suzanna Guzmán

The 2015-16 marks Suzanna Guzmán’s 30th anniversary of her professional debut with San Diego Opera. She’s appeared as a principal soloist with countless orchestras and opera houses around the globe. Well-known for her portrayal of the title role in Bizet’s Carmen, she champions new music and has created lead roles in works by the greatest 20th and 21st century composers. Dedicated to Arts Education, her one-woman show, Don’t Be Afraid! It’s Just Opera has been seen by over 250,000 inner-city children nation-wide. A 2006 Grammy nominee with Southwest Chamber Music, she’s the 2013 Hispanic Scholarship Fund Mentor of the Year and the 2015 recipient of the Edwin Lester Lifetime Achievement Award for Service to Arts and Community. She appeared as one of the Luchas in the Industry’s critically acclaimed production of the mobile opera Hopscotch. The L.A. Times said, “Observe a veteran opera star like mezzo-­‐soprano Suzanna Guzmán up close, and the rest of the world simply vanishes from your consciousness.
